Dr Danielle Bentley

Cellist, Curator, Founder & Manager

Award-winning cellist and curator Dr Danielle Bentley was Australian Arts Fellow at Omi Music Residency, New York (2018) & is a recipient of an APRA-AMCOS Art Music Award for Excellence. She works across multiple genres. Classical contexts include QSO, Opera Australia, and Camerata. Danielle has worked extensively in the commercial sector with over 100 international and Australian headliner artists including Hans Zimmer, Kanye West, Jimmy Barnes, Harry Connick Jnr and Diana Krall. She has performed for Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh.She was a Director of art music ensemble Collusion for 7 years during which they produced several critically-acclaimed chamber ballets, commissioned/performed over 40 Australian works and released 3 albums. 
Festivals she has curated include  Restrung (Brisbane Powerhouse, Metro Arts) and at QLD Conservatorium, the International Music Council’s 5th World Forum on Music and Crossbows. 
Recent freelance work includes recording on the soundtrack for major motion picture ‘The Windcatcher” (Stan). Her quartet Bentley Strings was released on ABC Classics in 2023, performing Robbie James’ (Gangajang) The Marree Sisters. In 2024,  Move Records released their performance of James’ Dreaming in the Sand.
Since 2022, Danielle has been co-director of experimental powerhouse trio Ensemble Sooon. They have performed extensively since inception, and released four albums independently and through APRA-award winning label Made Now Records.
